A time to thank our volunteers

May 20 – 26 2019 is National Volunteer Week. It's the perfect time to recognise those tireless members of our local communities who give their time and effort to make the world a better place.

This year is an extra special celebration. That’s because 2019 marks an amazing 30 years of celebrating National Volunteer Week.

Volunteers across the country contribute to so many different organisations, causes and activities. The individuals and communities that they help are truly privileged that so many choose to give their time so willingly.

The Westfund team has been lucky enough to meet volunteers from a range of organisations. These include wonderful individuals who volunteer at Ronald McDonald House North Queensland, as well as Smart Pups. No matter what the cause, the one thing that has united all volunteers is their generosity.

They give countless hours to ensure things run smoothly, never asking for anything in return.

The theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week is ‘“Making a world of difference” and this truly captures the important role of volunteers; it’s hard to picture a world without them

Many people say that they would love to volunteer, if only they could find the time.

For those that do find the time to volunteer, the rewards can include lifelong friendships, new skills and unique experiences.

To those who think that they may not have the time to volunteer, ask anyone who does and they will all say the same thing – make time.

It might just change your life.
